15 year-old-girl, Sabine Wortelboer received thousands of ‘Get Well Soon’ cards after she posted her plight on social networking site Facebook.

The teenager was diagnosed with brain tumor that kept growing despite treatments.

Sabine from the Netherlands first grabbed public attention in 2016 when her TV-presenter brother Sol and her family started a crowdfunding campaign to pay for her rare brain tumor treatment in the United States.

After travelling to Houston for treatment which initially showed promise of improving her condition, she was unable to continue the treatment due to a bout of gastrointestinal inflammation, the Dutch newspaper, Algemeen Dagblad reported.

However, last week Sabine wrote in her final post on Facebook that the result of her latest MRI scan ‘was really bad’ as the tumour continues to grow.

“After the result I’ve decided to stop all medication. It’s not going to work anymore,” She wrote.
“I would really like it people, for the last time, can send me a whole bunch of cards.”

She then included her home address in the post.

By Tuesday, she had received 33,000 cards, Metro UK reported.

Video posted online showed crate after crate filled with cards being delivered by the Dutch postal service, which said it had to employ a special team just to sort out the cards, according to Dutch broadcaster RTLNieuws.

She slept most of the time, but ‘she is not in pain and when she’s awake, she’s very lucid,’ Her mother, Ilse said.

Sabine wrote a farewell and thank you message in her last blog post.
“I think it’s time to say goodbye,” she wrote. “Thank you for everything you’ve done for me.” Punch
